STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR OCCULT BLOOD

1. SPECIMEN:

1. Stool sample

2. EQUIPMENT & REAGENTS

1. Equipment:
1. Occult Blood kit (card and reagent)

3. PROCEDURE:

1. Prepare stool smear on windows of card of the occult blood kit.
2. Add reagent on backside of the windows of the card.
3. Observe the change in color. (color change indicates the presence of RBCs).

4.    Prepare lab report of the observations.
