1.
SPECIMEN:
- EDTA ( anticoagulant ) blood sample stable for 2 hours at 25 C and 12 hours at 4C.
2. EQUIPMENTS:
a. Windtrobe ESR Tube and ESR stand.
b. Timer
3. PROCEDURE:
- Fill the Wintrobe ESR tube with EDTA blood sample to zero-level. (Note – there should be
complete
absence of any air bubbles inside the tube).
- Mount the tube at the ESR stand.
- Start the timer for one hour.
- After timer expires, record the result as the ratio (mm/Hr) of settled cells and above clear plasma. 5. Prepare lab report of the observations.
